Wildlands celebrates the roaring success of the new YouthForLions awareness campaign which officially launched on September 1, 2016. This global movement is aimed at informing and engaging the youth around the world around the realities of volunteering, cub petting, walking with lions and other forms of animal interaction, and their contribution to canned hunting.
The successful run of The Blood Lions™ documentary, released mid-2015, brought the horrors of the South African predator breeding, canned hunting, and lion bone trade industries to light. The film’s powerful visual narrative as well as a subsequent global awareness campaign have brought the world’s attention to this important cause.
“Young people are being conned and we want them to know what’s really happening”, said YouthForLions Campaign Driver, Amy Webster. “The reality is that volunteering, cub petting, walking with lions and all other forms of animal interaction on lion farms are contributing to canned hunting,” she said, “and what’s more, this is putting hundreds of thousands of Rand’s in the hands of these ranch owners.”
