Wildlands’ CEO attends 1st Living Lakes African Regional Conference

As part of the Living Lakes efforts to develop an effective global network to support the conservation and restoration of the planet’s lakes, representatives of South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Nigeria and Benin met at the lst African Regional Living Lakes Conference.

Among issues discussed at the Conference were the health of the representative countries’ lakes, sustainable development associated with these lakes and the potential to build a support network.

Representing South Africa at the conference, our CEO, Dr Andrew Venter, believes the Wildlands Conservation Trust has a significant role to play in the develoment of an effective Living Lakes African network. Much interest was shown in our work, particularly the Indigenous Trees for Life project.
