On The Brink campaign onthebrinksa.co.za

The Sanctuary for Sharks & Rays project is a 3-year project which aims to achieve the designation of new areas of protection, expanded protected areas and or rezoned areas for sharks and rays. “ON THE BRINK” is a campaign underwriting the Sanctuary for Sharks & Rays Project funded by the Rainforest Trust and co-funded by Oceans 5 and Shark Conservation Fund, in partnership with the National Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment.

Over the last year the ON THE BRINK campaign content reached over 9 million people through 56 media pieces (radio, TV, online & print) and 200 social media posts.

The On The Brink campaign is behind the award-winning proudly South African film entitled “SEE US.” Featuring our very own Thandeka Hlongwa and award-winning underwater videographer Steve Benjamin, “SEE US” garnered significant media attention by telling an inspirational story about South Africa’s extraordinary endemic and threatened sharks and rays living in MPA’s. The film has not only been leveraged through media platforms but also took home a Gold and Pinnacle Award (an award given to the overall winner of its category) at the International Tourism Film Festival - Africa (ITFFA).
